What do we do when we are suffering? When we are afraid? When we feel alone? When we feel unloved? When we are ashamed? When we feel guilt? Do we run away and stuff what we feel inside?
These are all emotions that we experience and it is during these times that we face them and question the lessons that they have for us.
To feel the pain that we feel, is to open ourselves to connecting with others.
No, we don’t want to run away from our pain for in this way, we get closer to others and to all of humanity. If we numb ourselves out, we also numb ourselves to others. But when we feel it all, we expand. We don’t shrink in fear. We let ourselves break, so we can let in more light. We are willing to be vulnerable so that we can be more of the spirit. We question. We have an open and honest conversation with ourselves.
We have to be willing to investigate. We have to be willing to look within ourselves. Peace is not found in substances, or possessions. Peace is found within, that despite our brokenness, we have the right to live just like everyone else. We can only honor this space. We can only be grateful for the experiences that get us closer to love.
With courage, we face our humanity and offer ourselves compassion. We offer ourselves forgiveness, for all we can do is do our best. We can only pick up the pieces, get up and do better next time.
